‘On the way to PlanetProof’ (PlanetProof) is an independent environmental certification scheme for plant-based products. The quality label is owned by Stichting Milieukeur (SMK).
History
‘on the way to PlanetProof’ is the new name for the Milieukeur quality mark for plant-based products. PlanetProof was established following an intensive process with SMK, NGOs, supermarkets and the sector and was developed as a result of meetings between Greenpeace and supermarkets. During these meetings, agreements were made on the share of PlanetProof products in the fruit and vegetable category in numerous supermarkets.
Role of Fresh Produce Centre and Collective scheme
Employees and members of Fresh Produce Centre participated in the guidance committee and various working groups involved in establishing the new certification scheme. In addition, Fresh Produce Centre is a member of the College of Experts of SMK. In the time ahead, Fresh Produce Centre will also be cooperating with SMK on the roll-out of: an ambitious, distinctive, feasible, affordable and international certification scheme PlanetProof in the fruit and vegetable sector with the widest possible scope nationally and internationally. To this end, Fresh Produce Centre has concluded a cooperation agreement with SMK. Part of this agreement is a collective scheme (only accessible to members) for members of Fresh Produce Centre.
