Fresh Produce Centre works with other organisations (CBL, LTO Nederland and Plantum) in a crisis management core team. Good communication and a basis of trust between supply chain partners are necessary in order to recognise and identify risks at an early stage. This enables us to act promptly and decisively in the event of an emergency. The “Food Horticulture Core Team” springs into immediate action in the event of incidents or crises affecting multiple businesses and supply chain links in the food horticulture sector and potentially damaging the sales and/or image of the sector as a whole. The core team sometimes operates visibly, but more often invisibly.
The focus is on situations relating to plant health and food safety. Measures are focused on preserving the trust of customers and consumers and limiting any damage to the industry. Where necessary and possible, consultation and coordination take place with relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, and agencies such as the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) or other sectoral organisations.
